We work hard scrubbing out the cellar, cleaning pipes and conditioning barrels to ensure we offer a top pint of real ale. We like to think it’s one of the best pints in the area. If you are interested, we would be happy to show you around our cellar and explain the cellar management process.

Real ale is one of the landlord’s passions and he is constantly talking to brewers and attending Beer Festivals to ensure we offer what is best in local ales and national guest beers. We offer 2 CAMRA locals from Peak Ales and Burton Bridge supplemented by local and national guest beers.

Our Beers

Peak Ales Swift Nick (3.8%) – our house bitter, always available (unless we are waiting for it to condition). ‘Nick’ is hoppy with a dry bitter kick, a smooth and easy drinking pint. After much testing, the landlord rates it as the best session bitter in the county but is happy to be challenged. Peak Ales are brewed in the Barn Brewery on the Chatsworth estate, a fantastic brewery where standards of cleanliness and care are second to none. Visit them here to find out more http://www.peakales.co.uk.

Burton Bridge Brewery – we rotate our Burton Bridge offering with the season – dark in the winter and blonde in the summer. Bridge Bitter, Sovereign Gold, Damson Porter all make regular appearances. The original micro brewery in the area started in 1982. Bruce and his team have forgotten more about beer than some brewers know. We are happy to support this local champion.

Guest beers come and go … we always try to keep them interesting and stock some local and national award winners, avoiding the latest theme ales.
