Water Keepers Cottage
Mappleton, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England
tel 01335 - 350444
The Water Keepers Cottage is a 19th century family house in the small village of Mappleton, just 2 miles from Ashbourne in the Derbyshire Dales, it used to be the home of the local water keeper for the Okeover Estate. The cottage is ideally located as a base for holidays in the area whether it be walking, cycling or motoring (or even hang gliding!).
The picturesque Dove Dale is only 2 miles away and many footpaths criss-cross the area so one hardly needs to walk on public roads.
For cyclist, there are many disused railway lines that have since been resurfaced and made over for cyclists and walkers, as well as many gated roads that do not see much more then a car a week.
Slightly further afield there is the Derbyshire Peak District, with its scenery and wealth of places to visit
